The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is the region where most Arabs live. That area is also where civilizations began, where Adam and Eve lived, where writings began, the code of law was first installed, city state was developed, and many more historical seeds were planted that we keep reaping their benefits today.

For thousands of years, the area referred to as the cradle of civilizations, the Mesopotamia, and the land of Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, was the source of science, technology, art, and literature. That region’s citizens had many cultures, spoke different languages, yet conquered global commerce through water and land from which they were enabled to spread their knowledge to the rest of the world.

MENA citizens, over the years, while preserving their different cultures, used the Arabic language to communicate. Finding that commonality made it easier to conduct trades and business while keeping their heritage of Assyrians, Phoenicians, Chaldeans, Egyptians, and the many more.

Speaking Arabic did not mean one’s heritage is from the Arabian region. Speaking Arabic, however, strengthened communications, prospered their business, and enhanced the region’s visibility around the world. In the past century or two, MENA citizens became more attached to their heritage and less to the Arabic language. Emphasizing each group or tribe’s heritage switched the focus from commerce to cultural. While pride in one’s deep cultural heritage is beautiful, it also created divisions which lead to reducing the focus of trade and business.

Today, we need to refocus our efforts on our commonality, the Arabic language, to lead the way again in the world of global trade.

Arab Business Enterprise (ABE) provides the platform for all Arabs to trade, enhance, and reach other interested Arabs globally. ABE is the space where an investor in Saudi Arabia can find the growing business in Oklahoma, and the two become partners. ABE is where Hollywood finds an Arabic actor to play a leading role in a blockbuster movie. ABE is also where a U.S. company finds, after many months of search, the best Arab candidate who happened to be living in Portugal, for their highly skilled and proficient executive position.

We are at a time in history where we can succeed in business and showcase or diverse cultures. We can wear our ethnic outfits and sell school supplies to other cities and countries. Architects can design their buildings in Iraq from their desks in France. Virtual offices allow a company in the Netherland to hire employees from every continent.
